Evaluator's view

Check single-page compliance, required headings, and solicitation keyword matching before deeper assessment.

Capability Statement

What this is

A one‑page marketing sheet that summarizes your firm’s core competencies, differentiators, past performance references, and relevant codes. It lets the contracting officer quickly assess whether you are a viable vendor.

When you need it

Required for most solicitations—sealed bids, negotiated contracts, simplified acquisitions, and GSA Multiple Award Schedule submissions. Mandatory early in the proposal package; often referenced in the solicitation’s instructions to offerors (see FAR 52.212‑1).

How to fill it in

  1. Company Overview – name, address, DUNS/UEI, SBA size‑standard classification (cite S22).\
  2. Core Competencies – list 3–5 key services or products that match the solicitation’s technical requirements. Use language from the solicitation (Section L) to ensure responsiveness.
  3. Differentiators – brief bullet points explaining what makes you better than competitors (e.g., past performance, unique technology, certifications). Keep each point under one line.
  4. Past Performance References – include 2–3 recent contracts of similar size/scope; provide contract number, agency, award value, and a one‑sentence result. Reference the SBA’s basic‑requirements guidance (cite S24) for formatting.
  5. Relevant Codes & Registrations – list your FAR/DFARS clauses you are compliant with (e.g., 52.204‑8 representations), SAM registration status, and any set‑aside certifications.
  6. Contact Information – point of contact name, title, phone, email for the proposal manager.
  7. Page Limit – keep to a single page, 12‑point font, 1‑inch margins; exceedance will cause rejection (see FAR 52.212‑1(f)).
