Environmental and sustainability plan

What wins points

Providing a recognised environmental label (e.g., ISO 14001, EMAS, European Eco‑label) or a detailed environmental management scheme linked to Article 62 satisfies the mandatory compliance requirement and gives a qualitative edge under the ‘environmental’ award criterion.

What gets bids disqualified

Missing or expired certification, or failure to provide any evidence of compliance with Article 62, results in automatic disqualification.

Evaluator's view

Verify that the certificate name, reference number and validity dates are present and match the tender’s specified label; ensure the compliance statement explicitly cites Article 62 of Directive 2014/24/EU.

Environmental and sustainability plan

What this is

A brief description of the environmental and sustainability requirements that contracting authorities may impose on public contracts, and the evidence tenderers must provide to demonstrate compliance.

When you need it

Use this template when the procurement documents require evidence of an environmental management system, eco‑label certification, or any specific environmental characteristics for the works, supplies or services. It is typically mandatory for contracts where the authority wishes to integrate environmental considerations (Article 62 of Directive 2014/24/EU) and may be optional in other cases.

How to fill it in

  1. Identify the exact environmental requirement(s) listed in the tender documents (e.g., ISO 14001 certification, EMAS, European Eco‑label, national eco‑label).
  2. State the label or scheme name and provide the reference number / certificate number.
  3. Attach a copy of the current certificate or an excerpt showing validity dates.
  4. If no formal certificate is required, describe the environmental management measures you will apply during performance (e.g., waste reduction plan, energy‑efficiency targets). Reference any relevant contractual clause (Article 62) that permits this evidence.
  5. Confirm that all information is up to date and corresponds to the period of contract execution.
